While I strive to provide a weekly grocery list for each meal plan there are some items that I think every well-stocked kitchen should have. They are the foundation of meal planning and if you stock most, if not all of them, you will have a much easier time preparing dinner most nights of the week. If I’m forgetting anything that you love to keep in your own pantry I’d love to hear your suggestions!
Butter – salted as a condiment, unsalted for cooking/baking
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Vegetable Oil – canola, corn, whatever you prefer
Vinegars – red, balsamic, apple cider, rice wine
Mayonnaise
Dijon mustard
Ketchup
Salt – regular and kosher
Pepper – freshly ground (invest in a grinder, it is worth it)
Flour
Sugar – white and light brown
Lemons & limes
Hot sauce
Fresh herbs, in season
Dried herbs/spices, year round – rosemary, basil, oregano, thyme, sage, hot pepper flakes, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger
Rice – whatever you prefer
Farro
Quinoa – I am allergic, weird I know, so I never make it but I think it is a great, healthy staple for quick side dishes
CousCous
Pasta – I typically always have a box each of linguine and penne
Peanut Butter
Soy Sauce
Sesame Oil
Pesto – if possible, homemade, but I also use Trader Joe’s brand year round
Sriracha
Eggs
Bread crumbs
Garlic – keep a head or two around at all times
Parmesan cheese
Olives
Capers
